Day 6: Aljezur to Arrifana 17 Km





 The day started with a stiff climb to Aljazur Castel-a fortress built in the 10th century by Arabs-last to be concerned by Christians, in 1247. Up and down, climbing to the end of our powers, took us to around a beautiful little resort town  with not even a name on the map and to a great beach.







The day was hot but a very strong wind kept us cool. 

We discover a very beautiful beach, a surfers’ Paradise, Praia do Monte Clerigo. 

The hiking in the sand all the way fro the ruins of Ponta de Atalaia-a great stop for a piece of fruits and a bite of cereal bar. 

The road to our hotel seems v long and  difficult but friendship made a difference and we both arrive  in good shape.

Day 3: Almograve to Zambujeria 20 km

 Weather in Portugal’s south west coast continues to surprise us-is cold compared with what we expected —this morning 15 degrees Celsius! But Sun shined all day and one of the travelers completed the entire 20 Km on aprox 6 hours. The other explores other avenues for a full understanding of the local vibe. Today is Portugal National Day -it is the day of the death of their greatest poet  /Portugal_Day . below is a link to the poet’s epic opera on Vasco da Gama voyage to discover India.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Os_Lus%C3%ADadas Zambujeira do Mar is a little town with white houses and small streets —-and many Nepalese businesses. Seems like many Asian people from Nepal and Bangladesh found a second home in Portugal.

Day 4

 There is a very loose correlation between the length of the hike and the level of tiredness. Today we did 20 km, but it was the nost difficult - so far. Up and down a few times, either on slippery rocks or mud or sand. The wind was not present, so we felt the hot Portuguese sun.  I wanted to make a statistics of which nations are most present but after the first 11 Germans it was obvious. We heard also Spanish, French, Italian words and also some unidentifiable ones.  Well, let's enjoy some photos.
